Ain't done yet: BBMP to Karnataka High Court on filling up potholes
The BBMP submitted that only some 14 plus of the 43 areas, cited by the petitioner were pothole -free.
Bengaluru: Expressing displeasure against Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for failing to filling up potholes despite having a month's time to do so, the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday has asked court commissioners to examine the ongoing pothole works taken up by palike.
“As it is pointed out that at some of the places, the work would be executed during the night hours, we would leave it to the discretion of the Commission to visit any work in progress also, as deemed fit and proper,” the court observed.
The court stated that it had expected that the civic body would have declared that there are zero potholes in the city. Instead, the BBMP submitted that only some 14 plus of the 43 areas, cited by the petitioner were porthole -free. Palike further said that 24 are in areas spanning over a 6 km stretch where BWSSB's road cutting work was going on. The BBMP said it had laid the wet mix on the stretch, to make it motorable.
The court was hearing PIL seeking direction to the BBMP to address the pothole menace in the city. The case was adjourned to Thursday.
