Thrissur: Chettuva to host LaLiga training centre
Sports city to be set up on 45 acres to groom world class players.
Thrissur: In a tie-up with Spanish league La Liga, NRI group Creorts will be setting up a sports city for football training at Chettuva near Vadanappally here on 45 acres to groom world class players.
Jose Cachaza, managing director of La Liga India who was here the other day, said three Spanish coaches would train footballers in India.
“There will be a head coach and two regional coaches of which one would be in charge of Kerala," he said.
“The La Liga will be providing technical classes to the local coaches and they, in turn, will look after the coaching schools with the guidance of Spanish coaches. The Spanish league will give no infrastructural assistance, and the coaching will be as per the syllabus of LaLiga.”
Creorts would be arranging facilities for the La Liga training programme in different schools. The two would focus on the game and the education of the kids as well.
“We are in talks with different schools in Kerala. Vadhi Rahma, a school at Mukkam in Kozhikode, has confirmed joining the programme. We will coach students on a fee as per the present standards. From among them, we will select the best performers to the sports city which will be set up in three years,” Creorts representative Subir Alikutty said.
