Chennai: Special bus reservation counters to be opened today

CHENNAI: State Transport Minister M.R. Vijayabaskar will inaugurate the special bus reservation counters on Thursday at Puratchi Thalivar Dr. M.G.R. bus stand in Koyambedu in view of Deepavali.

The buses will be operated from Puratchi Thalavar Dr.M.G.R Bus Stand CMBT Koyambedu, Madhavaram New Bus stand, K.K Nagar MTC Bus Stand, Arignar Anna Bus Stand, Tambaram-Sanatorium (MEPZ) and Tambaram Railway Station Bus Stand,Poonamallee Municipal Bus Stand, Poonamallee during the ensuing Deepavali from Oct. 24 to 26.

A decision to this effect was made at a meeting chaired by Mr. Vijayabaskar. Principal secretary to Government Transport Department, B. Chandramohan and
other officials participated.

About 2,225 buses will be operated from the above said places to all district head quarters, special buses 4,265 will be operated from Oct. 24 to 26 and totally (including scheduled and special buses) about 10,940 buses will be run for the above three days.

As on date, 43,635 passengers have reserved tickets to travel from Chennai, 23,138 passengers booked tickets to travel to various places, thus totally 66,773 passengers got reserved tickets. Total amount earned through this is Rs 3.26 crores.

Those who wish to travel for more than 300 KMS in special buses may reserve their tickets through website www.tnstc.in, www.redbus.in, www.Paytm.com, www.makemytrip.com, www.busindia.com and www.goibibo.com.  

In addition to existing reservation counters, 30 special reservation counters will be opened in CMBT Bus Stand-26, MEPZ (Tambaram Sanitorium)-2 Special Reservation Counters and one reservation counter at Poonamallee Bus Stand and one special counter at Madhvaram Bus Stand.
