Hyderabad: Headmaster and warden arrested on rape charges

The victim said that other students of the school were also treated in a similar manner.

Hyderabad: Acting on credible information, the Abdullapurmet police along with the SHE teams, on Saturday arrested two persons K. Prasada Rao (51) and his wife K. Saradhi (50), for allegedly raping a minor several times and inflicting bodily hurt.

Rao is said to be a headmaster of Janet George Residential School and his wife K. Saradhi was the hostel’s warden where the minor was studying.

According to the police who received a complaint from the victim at 9 pm on Friday, the victim stated that she had joined Janet George Memorial School at Batasingaram, it all started in the year 2015 when the victim was studying in class eight.

“The victim was sleeping in the hostel. The accused, being school headmaster and hostel warden respectively, had access to enter her room in the hostel. Upon entering, they would touch her inappropriately and force her into sexual intercourse several times. This was repeated once a week,” said a police officer.

The duo went on to harass her and force her to do household chores like washing clothes and cleaning the house. amongst others. If she refused to do work, they used to hit her.

Due to their harassment, she left the school in June this year. The victim also said that they used to treat other students of the school in a similar manner.

Upon arrest, on Saturday, the duo confessed to the crimes. They have been booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
