GUNTUR: Guntur Zilla Parishad chairperson Johny Moon has lodged a police complaint claiming a threat to her life from social welfare minister R. Kishore Babu and sought protection. She alleged that the minister had been troubling her for nine months. Mr Kishore Babu was elected as an MLA from Prattipadu, while Ms Moon, who was also from the TD, was elected from Kakumanu which is a part of the constituency. Ms Moon will have to quit her zilla parishad post soon as she has completed half of the five-year tenure, as per an agreement, and TD leaders said she might have lodged the complaint to save her post.

Speaking to the media at Guntur on Friday, Ms Moon alleged that supporters of the minister attacked her house and threatened to kill her. She alleged that Mr Kishore Babu had ordered officials and party leaders not to cooperate with her at official and party programmes. She alleged that Mr Kishore Babu had intervened in the transfer of mandal level officers and had shifted officers without her consent. She said the minister had stalled development for her native Kakumanu mandal. Ms Moon claimed she taken the issue to the notice of Chief Minister N. Chandra-babu Naidu, but the harassment had increased after that, she alleged.
