Telangana: Hawkers all set to get identity cards

Hyderabad: IT and municipal administration minister K.T. Rama Rao on Friday informed the Legislative Council that the state government has surveyed 54,483 street vendors and issued identity cards to 11,012. “The survey of street vendors is in progress. The Telangana state Street Vending Scheme is being implemented,” he said replying to questions of MLCs K. Yadav Reddy and Sunkari Raju.
He said the government has provided insurance to 6,076 street vendors under PM Suraksha Bhima Yojana, PM Jeevan Jyothi Bhima Yojana, opened 8,875 savings account, 545 common interest groups formed, funded 255 street vendors with '18.89 crore under self employment programme.
