Telangana government gears up to raid adulterators

The civil supplies department would recruit more staff this year to raid.

Hyderabad: The state government’s crackdown on adulteration of food and essential commodities will be intensified further, said  civil supplies minister Etala Rajender. Speaking at an event to mark National Consumers Day celebrations at the Secreatariat, he said the civil supplies department would recruit more staff this year to raid and inspection units against food adulteration besides strengthening consumer forums.

Mr Rajender expre-ssed the confidence that the government will end the menance of  food adulteration like it did gambling. “When we spoke of checking gambling after coming to power, some people mocked at us saying that it was impossible. In these three years, we have proved that gambling can be stopped. All the gambling clubs have been seized and we are not allowing people to play gambling even in their private  places. Online gambling has been banned,” he said.
