Bengaluru: Month-old baby smothered to death
The baby was one of the twins born to Karthik's wife last month.
Bengaluru: A month-old baby was found smothered to death, allegedly by his relatives, at a house in Vivek Nagar.
The baby was one of the twins born to Karthik’s wife last month. Police said that on Friday the baby had fever and Karthik offered put him to bed in the hall.
He later left to a medical store to buy fever drops and his wife was there at the hall. A few moments later, the other baby who was in the other room, began to cry. Karthik’s wife went inside, leaving the baby in the hall.
When Karthik returned from the store, he found the baby at the hall missing. When he asked his wife, she too was shocked to know about his disappearance.
They began a search for the baby in the neighborhood and later on the same day approached Ashoka Nagar police station and lodged a kidnap complaint.
The police too searched for the baby for hours, but drew a blank. They then decided to search Karthik's house itself, and found the baby lying dead. He was wrapped in a towel and placed beneath a bed.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the baby was smothered to death. The body was shifted to a hospital for postmortem. During investigation the police came to know that Karthik had a fight with his brother Arvind and father Chittaraju. Later he along with his wife had shifted to a different house. The police have detained Arvind and Chittaraju for questioning.
