Hyderabad: Photo craze ends on a fatal note for 3 boys
They slipped in a pond in a quarry and drowned.
Hyderabad: The craze to take pictures at unique locations claimed the lives of three youngsters including two siblings from the city. The youngsters along with their friends entered a pond in a quarry to take pictures and accidentally drowned.
The victims were identified as P.N. Surya, 20, an engineering third year student, his younger brother P.N. Chandra, 16, intermediate first year student at PAGE College, and his friend Bhargav, 17, an Intermediate first year student at Amogha College.
They were accompanied by two others, Syed Uvez and Samveeth, who are safe. They were all residents of Motinagar, Borabanda, said an RGI Airport police officer of the Cyberabad police commissionerate said.
The incident took place in a quarry near Manasa Hills near Green Walk Ways in Kothwalguda on the Rajendranagar road in Shamshabad at about 1 pm. The youngsters had gone to the quarry to enjoy the holiday and were taking pictures.
While taking pictures, Surya, Chandra and Bharghav entered the pond to take pictures while Uvez and Samveeth were standing outside. Surya slipped inside the water and began drowning. His younger brother Chandra and their friend Bharghav tried to rescue him, but they also drowned.
The water is about 20 feet deep due to which the youngsters could not come out.
Uvez and Samveeth immediately alerted the parents of the trio and called the police. Professional swimmers from the fire department were put in force. They recovered the bodies of the three victims.
RGIA inspector A. Gangadhar said Surya, Chandra and Bharghav did not know swimming but had entered the water.
The bodies of the deceased were been sent to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary for the postmortem examination. Police registered a case of suspicious death and began investigations.
