Hyderabad: Artificial Intelligence, humans are future workforce'

Hyderabad: With apprehensions over artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics reducing the head count and taking over jobs still continuing, companies feel the term ‘workforce’ would evolve to encapsulate both human and machine intelligence.

According to a new global study released by American software company Pegasystems, AI and robotic automation would enable employees to make more informed decisions and lead to knocking down of conventional management hierarchies.

Several organisations are coming under the scanner for equal pay for equal work. In such a scenario, unprejudiced machine intelligence which analysed employee efficiency could play a vital role in bridging the gap. Some of them were looking forward to a decline in office politics. In the next five years, emerging technologies would recommend paramount actions for most customer service agents.

Almost two-thirds of participants of a survey of 845 senior executives believed that use of AI would result in a more transparent reward system at workplace. A majority of them noted that they were uncomfortable with an AI-powered boss but were comfortable working together with machines.

While staff could make informed decisions, AI would certainly change the way people were managed and recognised in organisations.

The survey said the number of permanent employees at Fortune 500 companies would be cut by half by 2030. These changes were already well under way at many workplaces across the world.

A Pegasystems statement said, “Headlines may focus on potential job losses but our research shows many companies expect smart machines to augment rather than replace existing human workforces to deliver improved experiences for customers and create rewarding jobs.”
