Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has joined the league of one lakh likes of his official page in facebook on Wednesday.

A day after a moderate performance of the ruling Congress in ZP/TP polls, the CM was in a happy mood with his official page on facebook registering one lakh likes since it was launched in September 14.

In fact, there seemed to be a delay in crossing the magic one lakh likes as nearly 40,000 likes were registered within 24 hours of Mr Siddaramaiah logging onto social media.

The CM's media cell has posted a screenshot of the CM's official page which reads 'Chief Minister of Karnataka,’ with his smiling picture in the background. Another screenshot shows Mr Siddaramaiah being congratulated with a flower bouquet. The official page of the CM is www.facebook.com/CMofKarnataka.

Sources told Deccan Chronicle that social media issues of Mr Siddaramaiah are handled by a separate IT wing functioning in Vidhana Soudha. The job of the wing is to put up the photographs of all functions attended by Mr Siddaramaiah along with f reports of the functions.

News pertaining to the CM's programmes are updated on a daily basis for the sake of FB buffs. While the official page of PMO of India has 1,04,27,120 likes, AICC President Sonia Gandhi's FB has 2,43,486 likes and AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's FB account has 4,49,789.

At the time of launching his FB, website and twitter account, Mr Siddaramaiah had admitted that his taking to social media was not to compete with Mr Modi but to reach people to tell them about government’s policies and programmes. "I am new to the internet and till I learn the usage of social media, my media team will update my FB and twitter account with my approval.” he had said.
