Special pujas mark Jayalalithaa's 68th birthday

Vellore: Members of the AIADMK in Vellore district on Wednesday organised special ‘pujas’ at 68 different temples to mark the 68th birthday of their party leader and Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa. The elaborate worship at the temples began at 6 am and went on for several hours during the day.
State minister for School Education, K.C. Veeeramani inaugurated the special function in the presence of the party’s information technology wing secretary Aspire K.Swaminathan, R.Balu and S.T. Dharmesh and other functionaries. The special guests at the function included B. Senguttuvan, MP, besides MLAs’ Dr V.S.Vijay, K.V.Sampath Kumar and K.G.Rajesh.
The bells in all the chosen 68 temples tolled, signaling the performance of the ‘pujas’ that included ‘Abhishekams’ to the main deities. All the AIADMK party members and several people from various parts of the district too witnessed the special worships.
In the evening, Janani P.Satish Kumar, who had arranged a special worship at the Fort Sri Jalakanteeswarar Temple here, pulled the golden chariot through the temple’s ‘prakaras’. He also made arrangements to decorate all deities with a variety of flowers. Free meals were served to the people who attended the function in the temple.
The AIADMK Vellore district’s east party members BHEL Karthikeyan and other party member at Rendadi Panchayat which comes under the Sholinghur East union, offered worship at the Easwaran temple, Pachaiyamman Kovil, Anjaneyar temple in Kulathur.
The party members distributed 68 sarees and dhotis to the poor people. Stationary items like notebooks to young schoolboys and girls along with sweets too were distributed. The party’s district pasarai secretary A.L.Vijayan,
