Maulana Azad National Urdu University withholds PhD scholar's thesis submission

HYDERABAD: Shocking several researchers, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has reportedly withheld a PhD scholar’s thesis submission, following the path of other Central Universities such as English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) and the University of Hyderabad (HCU). 

Abdul Basit Naik, a PhD student of Women Studies was in for a real shock when he received a notice stating that his request for submission of PhD thesis in Women Studies could not be considered as per the PhD regulations of the university.

“Since I was politically active, the Vice Chancellor informed my supervisor to ensure that I finish  my thesis quickly and leave the campus. I toiled for three years and finished the same and my pre-submission was also over successfully. Now, they are reluctant to let me submit the final thesis. When I asked them, they told me that it is per UGC guidelines. When I told them that I had gone through it and there was no such guideline, they told me that it was as per MANUU rules,” Basit said.
