Nalsar University of Law to set up Animal Law Centre
Although our country has some of the best Animal Protection Laws in the world, its enforcement is still lacking behind.
HYDERABAD: Nalsar University of Law here will begin India’s first Animal Law Centre in a law school setup in collaboration with Humane Society International (HSI). The announcement was made on Saturday during a two-day animal law sensitisation programme held in collaboration with HSI and People for Animals. The animal welfare training largely focused on giving a thorough understanding of Animal Welfare Law and the Indian criminal justice system.
Although our country has some of the best Animal Protection Laws in the world, its enforcement is still lacking behind. Faculty members of Nalsar stated that there is a need for such a programme not only due to rising cases of animal cruelty but also the increase of illegal wildlife trade issues.
