Bengaluru: Insurance cells to speed up compensation claim process
In a tweet, Aero India organisers said that a helpdesk for facilitating insurance claims has been set up.
Bengaluru: Following instructions from the Department of Financial Services (DFS), insurance companies have put up insurance cells at the parking bay of the Aero India Show at Yelahanka airbase where over 300 cars were gutted in a massive fire on Saturday.
While the help desks were put up at the venue on Saturday to help victims register their complaints, insurance companies also came forward to expediently clear insurance claims. However, only comprehensive insurance policies are being considered for the insurance claims. A senior insurance officer said that at the insurance cells, the claims would be processed fast and the insurers would receive the insured amount within 10 working days.
In a tweet, Aero India organisers said that a helpdesk (9480801415, 080-22942536) for facilitating insurance claims has been set up.
Following complaints from car owners that they lost their original documents in the accident, the transport department opened a centre at the Regional Transport Office in Yelahanka to provide duplicate documents, including driving licence and vehicle registration certificates. Persons seeking assistance can call 080-29729908/29729909; 9449864050 for this purpose.
The department has asked the car owners to take a photograph of their burnt vehicle and register a complaint with the police to get the duplicate documents of their vehicles. The RTO will issue the RC and other documents after the vehicle owners get their duplicate insurance policy from their insurance companies.
At around 12 noon on Saturday, a massive fire broke out at the parking area outside gate 5 of Yelahanka airbase where the Aero India show was underway. Over 300 vehicle were gutted in the fire. A court inquiry to probe the cause of fire is underway.
