Hyderabad: Three kids go to defecate in the open, drown in pit
It was found that the pit was dug five years back after somebody took sand from there and left it unattended.
Hyderabad: Three children drowned in a pit when they went to ease themselves at Sangareddy on Sunday evening.
There was a pit dug up near where the kids went to defecate. Police are probing why the water-filled pit was left open and unattended.
According to Sangareddy sub-inspector Srikanth, the children, Vamsi Krishna and Sandesh, both nine years old, and Nivaruthi, 12, were all natives of Narsi village in Nanded, in Maharashtra. Their fathers were drivers and migrated to Sangareddy 10 years back.
The three kids went to attend defecate between 3.30 pm and 4 pm. As they do not have toilets at home, it was routine for the kids to defecate in the open. When the kids did not return until late in the evening, their parents launched a search.
They realised that the children had drowned when they noticed their shorts near the pit. The police were alerted and professional swimmers were called to search for the children in the water.
It was found that the pit was dug five years back after somebody took sand from there and left it unattended. A case of suspicious death has been registered and the bodies were shifted to Sangareddy government hospital for post-mortem.
The sub-inspector said that the three boys were studying in Classes III and IV in a nearby school.
