KOCHI: KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran said here on Sunday that the police probing the Periya twin murders was wilting under external influence and a CBI probe was the only way to bring to book the real culprits.

"Even senior police officials have expressed doubts over the weapons seized. If CPM doesn't have any role in the murder, why did CPM leaders go to the house of the accused Peethambaran," Mullappally said demanding a probe against Uduma MLA and former MLA.  He also said that the police personnel in charge of the probe, IG Sreejith and Rafeeq, are already under a cloud in different high profile cases they investigated.

"The present probe will make sure that the real culprits and the people who hatched the conspiracy will escape," Mullappally said adding no one had approached the Kasargod DCC regarding the visit of the Chief Minister to the houses of the murder victims.  "We had advised the DCC to make arrangements if the Chief Minister expressed willingness to visit these houses. But that didn't happen," he said.

Mullappally reminded CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan that NSS is not a feeder organisation of CPM to obey its diktats. He protested against the act of Mr. Balakrishnan of belittling NSS. "CPM has come to occupy the place of old feudal lords who killed the backward people. Most of the people killed by CPM cadres belonged to the backward castes and minorities. No dalit has found a place in the CPM politburo because of the party's feudal mentality," he said.
