Doctors irked by raids on hospitals
Telangana Hospital and Nursing Homes Association has termed raids on small, private hospitals as illegal.
Hyderabad: Condemning the arrest of Dr Suresh Kumar and Dr Manoj Kumar in Karimnagar, the Telangana Hospital and Nursing Homes Association has termed raids on small, private hospitals in Karimnagar and Nizamabad as illegal. Association state president Dr Narayan Rao D. said, “The issue of alleged unethical practices of the surgeons is in Korutla and Jagityal towns. Officers of the state medical council have visited the place and asked the doctors to explain. When the council is looking into the case, why did the police arrest them? There is no prima facie evidence of criminal activities.”
The association demanded that the doctors be released and an inquiry be conducted into their illegal detention. Notices served on private hospitals by the district medical and health officer of Nizamabad to reduce the number of Caesarean sections is uncalled for and it is an attempt to control the hospitals, said the association.
Senior gynecologist Dr Bhavani Guda said, “A C-section decision is taken when there is sign of foetal or maternal distress. There are also times when families request that the child be born at a particular hour and time as it is considered good. Why blame only the doctors?”
