Retrial likely in Task Force office suicide attack' case
The city police approached the High Court against the acquittal of 10 accused persons who were allegedly involved in case.
Hyderabad: A case on the suicide bomb attack at Begumpet Task Force office in October 2005 will be heard afresh in the High Court. The court had issued notices to the accused in the blast case after the city police filed an appeal against the acquittal of persons who were allegedly involved in the case.
In October 2017, a trial court had acquitted eight persons who were accused of providing logistic help and support to the bomber who blew himself at the Begumpet Task Force office building in October 2005.
A home guard Satyanarayana and the bomber whom the police identified as 'Dalain', who was a Bangladeshi were killed. The city police approached the High Court against the acquittal of 10 accused persons who were allegedly involved in case.
“As soon as the accused were acquitted by the Sessions court, we approached the High Court and challenged the verdict. The court issued notices to the accused,” DCP Avinash Mohanthy said.
On August 10, 2017, VII Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court Judge Dr. T. Srinivasa Rao acquitted all the 10 accused- Mohammed Abdul Kaleem alias Arshad Khan, Mohammed Abdul Zahed, Mohammed Shakeel Ahmed alias Shagan, Syed Haji alias Haji, Ajmal Ali Khan alias Ajmal, Syed Azmath Ali, Mohd Mahmood Baroodwala, Shaik Abdul Khaja, Nafeeq-ul-Biswas and Hilaluddin, after the prosecution failed to prove the conspiracy charges. The court pointed out that the explosives were seized from the accused but it was not a clinching evidence.
