He said proper security arrangements need to be made at the counting centres as per the guidelines issued by the Election Commission.
Vijayawada: Chief Secretary L.V. Subramanyam had asked the district collectors and SPs to make foolproof arrangements for the counting of votes that will take place on May 23.
In a video conference on Wednesday with all the district collectors and SPs he said since there is a month’s time counting staff should be imparted proper training and the scenes like technical glitches of EVMs that took place during polling day should not be repeated while counting.
He asked the collectors personally monitor the arrangements that need to be made for counting in their respective districts to avoid any discrepancies. He said proper security arrangements need to be made at the counting centres as per the guidelines issued by the Election Commission.
He said there should be no compromise in imparting training to the counting staff. Security arrangements should be made in such a way that if there are any riots during the counting or aftermath should be tackled effectively at all the centres.
He also asked the collectors to ensure that there is no supply gap in the drinking water especially in the rural tracts and added they need to regularly monitor the situation with the officials of Zilla Parishad, municipal commissioners etc.
