Khammam: Inter mark errors have students up in arms

Khammam: As the mistakes in the inter-mark lists is being more and more exposed, the unrest among the student community is increasing. Student bodies asked the victims not to take any drastic step such as suicide and requested them to join in the agitation against the education department.

K. Chandrahasini (19432193 hall ticket number) got amazing marks. In her mark list, officials showed marks as 67 in Mathematics 2-A once and 75 marks in the same subject. The same mistake took place in Chemistry -1 and she was given 50 marks once and 60 marks once.

Chandrahasini said that she obtained 462 marks in the first year and was pained with the low marks in the second year.

N. Ashok, a student union leader said that officials had given marks according to their whims and fancies.

Mr Ashok demanded that minister for education Jagadeeshwar Reddy resign and that a sitting judge should inquire into the irregularities.

T. Hemanth, another student leader said that they will step up their agitation till justice is done to the students.

He said that the Intermediate Board secretary should be held responsible and suspended immediately. There were doubts that lakhs of rupees had changed hands in the deal and all issues should be investigated, he added.

“The student community is in distress and the government should give an assurance on their future first. The correction of mark lists should be done on a war footing,” said P. Gayatri, a student, adding that students should not worry over the defects in the mark list and student organisations would exert pressure on government in solving the issue.
