Two ships awarded at annual Eastern Naval Command Flotilla fest

Visakhapatnam: INS Konkan bagged the "most spirited ship" trophy and INS Cuddalore was adjudged as the "best ship" at the Eastern Naval Command (ENC)’s annual flotilla awards ceremony for the year 2015-16 which was held on the Naval Dockyard premises on Tuesday.
Naval officer-in-charge, Andhra Pradesh, Commodore Sanjeev Issar, was the chief guest of the impressive traditional naval ceremony. It is held every year to present awards to the ships of the flotilla excelling in different facets of operations.
The event was conducted to recognise overall excellence and valuable contribution of the ships and gallant men who have maintained constant vigil off the coast of Visakhapatnam. During the year gone by, local flotilla was deployed in various operations and also played an important role in the recently conducted mega event - International Fleet Review.
Commodre Sanjeev Issar congratulated all the award winners and highlighted the importance of keeping the ships in a perfectly operational state at all times. He also stressed upon the dynamic security situation prevailing in the region and the need for maintaining vigil.
