New Delhi: The Indian Air Force has denied news reports that Pakistani fighter jets had entered Indian airspace on Wednesday near the Siachen Glacier — the world’s highest battleground.

“There has been no violation of Indian airspace,” said IAF spokesperson Wing Commander Anupam Banerjee.

Amid plummeting of bilateral Indo-Pak ties, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has made all its forward operating bases “operational”.

The reports of air space violation possibly emanated from reports in Pakistani media that said that the PAF flew fighter jets on Wednesday near the Siachen Glacier.

Pakistan Air Chief visits Skardu
The developments coincided with a visit by PAF's Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman to Skardu to take part in PAF exercises where he also flew a Mirage fighter jet. In Skardu, the PAF chief, reviewing the exercises and operational preparedness of the PAF, said that his forces will respond to any aggression by the "enemy" in a manner that their future generations will also remember it.

The relationship between the two neighbours have been on a downward spiral since September 18 when Pak-istani army-backed militants attacked an army base in J&K’s Uri that killed 19 Indian soldiers. On the intervening night of September 28-29, India’s elite special forces had attacked militant launch pads across the LoC.
