Telangana: Major fire engulfs three Kukatpally scrap shops
Garbage piled up around the shops posed a challenge. While the blaze at the top was doused, it would spread from the bottom.
Hyderabad: A major fire broke out, engulfing three scrap shops in Saibabanagar, Kukatpally. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear, but fire services took three hours to douse it.
“We received a call at 12.05 PM and it took us almost three hours to douse the fire as it spread rapidly across the three adjacent shops,” additional district fire officer K.V. Satish Kumar said, adding that garbage piled up around the shops posed a challenge to the firefighters.
“A JCB had to be called in to clear the garbage pile because while we were dousing the fire on top of it, the fire was spreading through the bottom.”
Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot from Madhapur, Sanathnagar and Kukatpally. Some 25 water tankers were pressed into service to provide extra water. No casualties were reported. Kumar said nobody was present in the shops when the fire broke out.
