Chief Minister Pinaryi Vijayan and the CPM top leadership had maintained all the time that Sabarimala had not impacted the polls.
Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM state leadership on Friday officially admitted for the first time that Sabarimala issue had an impact on the Lok Sabha polls.
The state secretariat meeting held at the AKG Centre here observed that the right wing forces succeeded in misleading a section of devotees on the Sabarimala issue which was also evident from the voting pattern. The party will specially examine the reasons that led the people to think in this manner, a release issued by party secretariat said here.
Chief Minister Pinaryi Vijayan and the CPM top leadership had maintained all the time that Sabarimala had not impacted the polls.
The CPM secretariat said the Left could not make the voters aware of the need to strengthen the Left and the current position of the Congress at the national level to the desired level. According to preliminary assessment, due to these factors the Left lost the votes that it used to consistently and traditionally secure in the state.
The LDF’s defeat is a temporary setback. The party will conduct a detailed evaluation, find out the drawbacks and regain the confidence of people, it said.
