HMDA to pay Rs 150 crore tax to Telangana government
The urban body, which took up LRS, has told the applicants to submit land conversion documents for obtaining regularization.
Hyderabad: The revenue department is set to reap benefits from HMDA’s layout regularisation scheme. The urban body is set to pay NALA (Non Agricultural Land Assessment) tax to the tune of Rs 150 crore once LRS formalities are finished by July-August. The NALA tax is being collected by the urban body as part of regularisation of layouts.
The urban body, which took up LRS, has told the applicants to submit land conversion documents for obtaining regularization. The government directed HMDA to collect 4.5 per cent as NALA fees from LRS applicants who converted farm land for non-agricultural purposes without following due procedures.
After the land clears the scrutiny processes, applicants are being sent letters to pay LRS and NALA fees to obtain clearance certificates. It already collected Rs 400 crore from LRS fees alone.
According to HMDA chief T. Chiranjeevulu, they got Rs 60 crore as NALA fees until Thursday. He said that they will be depositing the amount with the treasury department from time to time.
