Hyderabad High Court treats NGO's letter on miner's boots as PIL
The NGO urged the court to take action against the Singareni authorities and the errant suppliers.
Hyderabad: Responding to a letter by an NGO affiliated with CPI (ML) with regard to supply of substandard shoes to miners working in the Singareni Collieries in Godavarikhani, the Hyderabad High Court has taken the letter as a PIL.
The NGO “Miners”, represented by its legal spokesperson Om Shanti Brihannala, had written a letter to the Chief Justice of the Hyderabad High Court stating that the management of Singareni Collieries has not taken any action against suppliers who supplied boots of lower quality than prescribed by ISI and Bureau of Indian Standards to the miners.
The NGO urged the court to take action against the Singareni authorities and the errant suppliers so that they rectify the mistake to prevent the risk that these boots pose to the safety of the miners who work in precarious conditions.
