Shelter home in Hyderabad asks police for protection
A source said Mr Frieser does not keep the shelter informed about where he was going during the day.
Hyderabad: The Sree Education Society that has been fostering the American national John Frieser — who turned up at a GHMC shelter on June 5 saying he had lost his luggage — has asked the Punjagutta police for protection of the home and its inmates as his background is not known.
While Mr Frieser stays at the home, he is funded by the tourism department. It costs '800 to pay for his meals and travel daily. It has also helped him secure a temporary passport.
Mr Frieser ventures out at about 9 am every day and returns by 10.30 pm, stating that he is here to study Indian culture. He says his next destination is Nepal but has shown no inclination to leave..
A source said Mr Frieser does not keep the shelter informed about where he was going during the day. “He talks to a a woman who he says is his sister. He says he spends the day at an internet centre in Ameerpet. His plans are unknown, as is his background.”
Mr Frieser has said he is from Aspen Circle in Fullerton of California. He has not sought help from the local US Consulate, saying he would prefer to live at the shelter as he would get to interact with people.
