IIM programme on doing business in Japan

The programme aims to develop strategic perspectives for functional managers with a focus on Japan.

Bengaluru: In a bid to help Indian managers gain management expertise by providing a platform to connect with like-minded professionals in Japan, the Business and Operations Management programme will be launched later this year at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB).

According to Madan Mohan Raj, Chief Programme Officer, Executive Education Programmes, IIMB, the programme aims to develop strategic perspectives for functional managers with a focus on Japan.

“This includes a comprehensive project, and a week of immersion in Japan with exposure to Japanese industries. They include sessions on various aspects of management,” he said.

The India-Japan Study Centre (IJSC) with its various programmes offered for Indian managers aims to prepare them to work better with their Japanese counterparts.

The dedicated hubs established in the institute also gets students and company executives to travel to both countries, spend time at the varsities, interact with businesses, and ultimately learn about management, leadership and business practices in both countries, Raj added. Interested candidates can apply online for the programme, on or before August 13 at the official portal of IIMB. There will be no entrance test, or any exam score required for admission to the programme, with the basic eligibility criteria set for managers working in Japanese companies in India and for managers working in Indian companies who are interested in doing business with Japanese companies.

Since its inception in September 2017 IJSC has been offering Dual Degree programmes, Executive Education programmes, Business and international Planning and Management courses, Language courses, Projects, Seminars, round-tables, India- Japan Start up hub and research aimed at furthering the India- Japan Agenda.
