L Ganesan: Why is MK Stalin afraid of Guv's reviews
Mr Ganesan said DMK was bound to lose what little support it has from the people if it continued to be defiant.
Chennai: BJP senior and party’s Rajya Sabha MP L. Ganesan, in his inimitable cheeky style, sought to know from DMK working president M.K. Stalin why Governor Banwarilal Purohit’s reviews in the districts, are giving him the jitters.
“When the ruling AIADMK has accepted Governor’s review meetings, what was the necessity for the opposition DMK to take exception to it,” he asked. Speaking to reporters after paying his respects to poet Kannadasan on his birth anniversary on Sunday, Mr Ganesan said the Governor knows his rights and duties as enshrined in the Constitution.
Contending that there was no meaning in the DMK’s agitations against Mr Banwarilal Purohit’s review meetings, Mr Ganesan said DMK was bound to lose what little support it has from the people if it continued to be defiant. Expressing that ruling AIADMK has not opposed his reviews, the senior BJP leader said in case the governor detects any irregularities during his review of schemes, the party that should get the “jitters, feel annoyed, or afraid should be the AIADMK leaders.” “But why is the DMK getting incensed? Why are they concerned over this?” he asked and wondered if the governor is reviewing the work of the previous DMK rule.
“Why are they getting tensed? They were in power and no matter whatever attempts they make now DMK will never come back to power in the state,” he said.
Meanwhile, lashing out at Mr Stalin and his DMK for staging black flag protests, BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan wondered if the opposition party had showed black flags at the Congress leaders in the past.
