Coimbatore: Action against HM sought for ‘caste slur’
However, nothing was done, several parents rued. A complaint against the HM was also lodged with police and with education officer.
Coimbatore: Angry parents of students enrolled in the corporation primary school in Kandasamy Nagar, Karatumedu in Saravanampatti demanded that the headmistress of the school be dismissed alleging that she regularly scolded children of the school and used caste slurs on them. A section of parents submitted a petition with district collector K. Rajamani demanding that the headmistress is dismissed.
In the petition, it was stated that headmistress of the school a couple of days ago, questioned the students how they could have good habits when they are born in a low caste. She also allegedly told a section of students that had they been born in an upper caste family, they (the children) would have automatically possessed good qualities, the petition added.
After submitting the petition, one of the parents on condition of anonymity, said that the headmistress forced her girl child to clean the washroom in the school. A section of parents had even staged a protest in front of the school last Wednesday, demanding action against the headmistress.
However, nothing was done, several parents rued. A complaint against the HM was also lodged with police and with education officer.
