RV Road Metro station may close for Yellow Line work
The construction work began last year and BMRCL is hoping to complete it by December 2020.
Bengaluru: To facilitate the integration of R.V. Road Metro Station on the Green Line with the upcoming Metro station of R.V. Road-Bommasandra Yellow line of Phase II, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) may shut down the station for several months. Commu ters will now have to board Metro trains at Jayanagar or Banashankari stations and they are demanding feeder buses to reach these stations.
“We are okay with the decision that the corporation has taken, because we have to support infrastructure development. But our request it to provide more feeder buses between the two stations because most of the buses that come from Jayanagar station or Banashankari take diversion before the RV Road station. Commuters have to walk some distance to reach the stations," Mr Shankar K.L., a commuter, told Deccan Chronicle.
As per the plan, the new Metro line to Electronics City starts from the R.V. Road station of the Green Line. BMRCL is using Lakshman Rao Parkland located parallel to Green Line viaduct. At the Marenahalli Road Circle, the Phase II viaduct will traverse over the existing viaduct. The construction work began last year and BMRCL is hoping to complete it by December 2020.
According to a senior BMRCL official, “The Metro station cannot operate properly if work on the interchange is on. We are still thinking whether it should be shut down. We are hoping for early completion and we will discuss the demand for feeder buses with BMTC. We will look at this issue at the earliest.”
