Land pooling policy awaits Telangana government's nod

It is learnt that the department is considering extending land pooling to municipal bodies and is taking its time to finalise the policy.

An HMDA official said they are required to write to the municipal administration and urban development every time for approval to go ahead with the scheme in a certain place.

Hyderabad: The HMDA is waiting for its land pooling policy to be cleared by the government, instead of having to approach the government on a case to case basis. 

The urban body has already written to the government to come out with a legal framework so that it can take up land pooling without hassles.

An HMDA official said they are required to write to the municipal administration and urban development every time for approval to go ahead with the scheme in a certain place. This process takes time, he said.

It is learnt that the department is considering extending land pooling to municipal bodies and is taking its time to finalise the policy.

Minister KTR Rao is also keen on the scheme, an official said. Property owners are offering their land for pooling schemes. It has got requests from farmers and land owners in Kandi (Sangareddy), Medipally and Pratapsingaram.

HMDA commissioner T. Chiranjeevulu said permission had been sought for pooling 115 acres in Medipally as it was assigned land. He said that urban body can take up land pooling schemes in the three areas at a time if decks are cleared.
