Telangana students miss MBA deadline
About 69,000 candidates qualified in the TS Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) for admission to MBA and MCA.
Hyderabad: Of the 21,281 seats alloted to students for MBA courses, only about 40 per cent students reported to the colleges following the first phase of counselling. This is despite the fact that July 20 was the last date for reporting to the colleges for admissions.
According to the managements of MBA colleges, the students were not aware that colleges would not be allotted to them according to the place of their residence. Some of the students who got admission to a college that was far away from home did not report by the set deadline. Colleges are now seeking extension of the last date for reporting.
Other reasons attributed for the students not reporting were the Bonalu holidays and the rain due to which candidates could not get the income certificates on times.
About 69,000 candidates qualified in the TS Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) for admission to MBA and MCA. Of these, 21,281 seats were allotted for MBA and 2,077 for MCA.
Mr Sudhir Kotla, president of MBA Managements Associations said, “Even on the last day of reporting, less than 40 per cent candidates reported to colleges. Ee were expecting 50 per cent. We are seeking an extension. We hope the number of students will be more for second phase of counselling.”
