Telangana Rashtra Samithi targets parties for supporting' Andhra Pradesh
Leaders claim CWC resolution will hurt Telangana growth.
HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders on Tuesday came down heavily on Opposition parties — Congress and BJP — for ignoring Telangana people’s welfare and development of the state while finding fault with CWC resolution on Special Status to AP as it will allegedly jeopardise development in Telangana. “Both the national parties, Congress and BJP, are keen to ruin Telangana,” irrigation minister T. Harish Rao said.
“Without bothering about Telangana and its development, the Congress party passed a resolution in the CWC meeting on Special Status to AP, if the party comes back to power. How can Congress promise Special Status to AP? Special status will bring to AP all the concessions, incentives and sops and this will attract industries from Telangana. Congress leaders from Telangana should open their mouths and reveal what will be its impact on Telangana. All incentives, tax sops to AP will hit Telangana industry really hard. How can Congress support such discrimination against Telangana? Can’t it jeopardise development in Telangana? Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statements are hurting the sentiments of Telangana people as he compared Telangana with Pakistan,” the minister said.
Lamenting Rahul Gandhi’s comments that Galla Jayadev’s speech caused distress to him, Harish Rao questioned as to what made him feel so bad. “Whether it was Jayadev’s criticism of Congress or talking against bifurcation of the state?” he asked. Harish Rao questioned Congress as to why it didn’t question Galla Jayadev for the undemocratic bifurcation statement. “By supporting the No Confidence motion moved by the TDP, the Congress party insulted the Telangana people. Congress is supporting all forces which are against the formation of Telangana state and its people. Congress doesn’t have a moral high to speak on Telangana. The Centre has given national status to Polavaram, but none in Telangana got such status. Is it not discrimination?” Rao queried.
Telangana energy minister Jagadish Reddy further added that Congress leaders from Telangana have been slaves of the party right from the beginning as they didn’t question Chandrababu Naidu for his anti-Telangana measures. “Congress party always prefers AP and its interests only. For instance, Congress leaders Jana Reddy and Uttamkumar Reddy never questioned Chandrababu Naidu and Congress over the injustice done to Nalgonda district. Congress party has become a true Andhra party. Its leader Rahul Gandhi is immature and not talking with the stature of a national leader,” Jagadish Reddy said.
