Erode: Jawan hurt as gun goes off by accident
The accident occurred in Thalavadi forest range office on Wednesday.
Erode: A jawan belonging to the Erode armed police was accidentally injured as a gun which he was servicing, fired all on a sudden. The accident occurred in Thalavadi forest range office on Wednesday.
As a matter of routine, personnel from the Erode armed police would periodically for a span of every six months, service the guns used by forest guards and rangers of the Thalavadi forest range.
The Thalavadi range covers seven areas of Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, Bavani Sagar, TN Palayam, Thalamalai, Aasanur, Kermaalam, and Thalavadi.
On Wednesday, Premkumar from the Erode armed police was servicing the guns belonging to staff of the Thalavadi forest range, at their office in Chikhali village, when accidentally one of the guns went off, seriously injuring Premkumar in the stomach.
Hearing the sound of the gun shot, forest officials immediately rushed to the place where Premkumar was working, and found him lying unconscious.
They immediately rushed him to the Samrajnagar government hospital in Karnataka for first aid, and he was later shifted to the Mysore government hospital for intensive medical care.
The incident caused a mild flutter in the area.
