Erode: Two injured as truck rolls down into gorge

Erode: Two persons were injured on Wednesday, as a woolladen truck fell into a 100 feet gorge on the Dhimbam Ghat Road.

The truck was hauling a load of wool from Bengaluru in Karnataka to Udumalpet and was traversing the Dhimbam Ghat road in Erode district, when the accident happened.

The truck was driven by Ganesh (40) hailing from Udumalpet and his helper Amarnthasingh was a north Indian.

As Ganesh took the second hairpin bend on the Dhimbam Ghat road, he lost control of the vehicle and the truck plunged into a 100 feet deep gorge, damaging the concrete barrier on the rim of the road.

Both the men were injured in the legs. Passersby summoned an ambulance and admitted the two in a hospital in Sathyamangalam. Sathyamangalam police are investigating.
