Rs 3 Lakh given to Telangana Eamcet topper by Singareni staff
To help Kushwant achieve his dream of becoming a Neuro Surgeon, the Singareni Collieries workers raised funds of Rs 3,06,120.
Warangal: Empati Kushwant, the topper of the TS Eamcet in the medical stream, received financial help from the Singareni Collieries workers at Bhupalpally on Wednesday. Hailing from a poor family, Kushwant does not have the required means to pursue higher education though he earned a seat in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, with his all India rank of 19 in the entrance test. He is now all set to join the premier institute.
Kushwant’s father Laxmi-narayana, an employee with Singareni Collieries in Godavarikhani, had died in a road accident more than a decade ago. His mother worked hard as a tailor to earn money and educate him.
To help Kushwant achieve his dream of becoming a Neuro Surgeon, the Singareni Collieries workers raised funds of Rs 3,06,120. They handed over to him the cheque for the amount.
Speaking on the occasion, Singareni Collieries general manager Raghupathy said Kushwant was an inspiration to all the families of the workers. “Topping the Eamcet and achieving all India 19th rank is not an easy achievement. It reflects the amount of hard work he put into his studies. His father once worked as an electrician in the Singareni Collieries. With an intention to help the family, the workers have come together,” he said.
While each worker contributed Rs 60, two workers —Rajmohammad and B. Satynarayana — made contributions of Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
Earlier, Bhupalpally MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy and his wife and Warangal Rural Zilla Parishad chairman Jyothi presented the boy with a laptop to help his studies in addition to monetary help. Mr Reddy said TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, who previously assured state help to Kushwant, has asked him to meet him at Hyderabad on Thursday before he leaves for Delhi.
