Hyderabad: Speed up park tender, officials told
The chief secretary on Friday held a meeting and reviewed the status of forest parks in the HMDA area.
HYDERABAD: Chief Secretary S K Joshi has instructed officials to complete the tender process to construct forest parks in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority's jurisdiction within 30 days and complete them by 2019. The chief secretary on Friday held a meeting and reviewed the status of forest parks in the HMDA area.
Joshi instructed Urban Forestry (15), HMDA (17), Tourism Department (7), TSIIC (11), GHMC (3), Forest Corporation (4) and HMRL (2) officials to develop 59 urban forest parks spread over seven districts under HMDA jurisdiction.
He asked the officials to seek the help of the Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI) to conduct the baseline survey for impact assessment and to check ground water levels and air quality
The 59 reserved forests would be modelled on the KBR National Park in Banjara Hills, where a small portion of the forest, about 10 per cent or less, would be developed as a garden for the public and the remaining would be kept as a conservation zone into which the public would not be allowed.
