Arun Jaitley’s demise: Venkaiah Naidu cancels all programmes
Police and Railway personnel made elaborate arrangements for various programmes of the Vice President on Saturday and Sunday.
NELLORE: Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu’s three day’s tour programme in SPSR Nellore district has been cancelled following the sudden demise of BJP senior leader and former Union minister Arun Jaitley in Delhi on Saturday.
AP Governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan, who came to Nellore to receive the Vice President on Saturday morning, left in the evening after spending some time with the family members of the Vice President in their residence at Nellore.
Though he left for Nellore from Chennai, Venkaiah Naidu returned to Delhi after coming to know about the death on the way, according to a press release by District Collector M.V. Seshagiri Babu.
Police and Railway personnel made elaborate arrangements for various programmes of the Vice President on Saturday and Sunday.
As per the schedule, the Vice President was supposed to visit the longest tunnel built by Railways on Krishna-patnam - Obulavaripalle railway line on Saturday evening.
The other programmes included flagging-off new Intercity Express from Gudur to Vijayawada on Sunday morning and distribution of certificates to the students of Vikrama Simhapuri University, during their convocation on Sunday evening.
Another major programme cancelled was laying the foundation stone for Mishra Dhatu Nigam.
Limited Greenfield Aluminium Alloy Production Plant at Bodduvaripalem, near Kodavalur, on Monday. The programmes of Railway minister Piyush Goyal and Defence minister Rajnath Singh in the district also stand cancelled due to Arun Jaitley’s demise.
