Centre urged to take up Polavaram project
TD senior leader claimed credit for completion of nearly 73 per cent of the project during their regime.
VIJAYAWADA: Given the current prevailing uncertainty on the completion of several projects initiated by the previous governments in the state, Telugu Desam politburo member Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said that the Centre should take over the execution of Polavaram irrigation project to complete it in about one-and-half-years and help the people and farmers get water for drinking and irrigation purposes.
Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, the TD senior leader claimed credit for completion of nearly 73 per cent of the project during their regime. Referring to a report from Polavaram Project Authority submitted to the Centre that stated that it could cost Rs 300 crore per annum if the execution of the project was delayed further, he laid stress on the completion of the project expeditiously to avoid additional financial burden.
Criticising the YSR Congress regime for raising doubts on taking up construction of capital city Amaravati on one pretext or other he underlined the importance of the state government to complete the projects initiated by the previous governments.
