Chennai: Vandals break open temple hundi
The theft came to light on Saturday morning as the temple opened for poojas.
Chennai: Unidentified persons in the early hours of Saturday broke open the Siddhi Vinayagar temple hundi near Vandalur flyover, and fled with its contents.
Police said the temple was locked on Friday after routine poojas. Masked robbers entered the temple around 4:10 am on Saturday, based on CCTV footage recorded in the temple. The robbers also damaged four other CCTV cameras inside the temple with a crowbar.

Investigations found that the cash was stolen from the hundi, though the men had attempted to break open the shrine door to steal jewels. Unable to open it, they fled. Vandalur Otteri police registered a case and are investigating.
