EC colluding with TRS, alleges Marri Shashidhar Reddy
We register our protest about the lack of transparency of the process for the second special summary revision for 2018.
Hyderabad: The TS Congress Election Commission Coordination Committee cited a series of issues with regard to voter list and alleged that the poll panel was working with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti.
Committee chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy at a media briefing asked: “Has the Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar taken note of widespread reports in the media on September 9, which have stated that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has asked the TRS leaders and candidates to take up enrolment of new voters in an aggressive manner?”
He said the party believed it to be true as Mr Kumar had disclosed on September 21 that there were 17 lakh new enrolments in 10 days after the draft rolls were published on September 10. “We have requested the CEO to provide the date-wise, district-wie and constituency-wise details of enrolment of new voters. It is mandatory to make available the list of additions and deletions, whenever draft rolls are published,” Mr Shashidhar Reddy said.
He said that IAS officer Navin Mittal had turned up as electoral roll observer for Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal districts during the all-party meeting convened by the district election officer, Hyderabad. He said political parties had not been kept informed about the appointment.
“We register our protest about the lack of transparency of the process for the second special summary revision for 2018. We are particularly surprised that the EC did not disclose this media, as they have been addressing them on a regular basis.”The Congress leader said there were many examples to explain that the Election Commission was having hand in glove with the TRS. “Before dissolving the Assembly, KCR informed the party leaders about the date of election notification, schedule and polling,” he said.
