Hyderabad: Amrutha seeks a statue for Pranay
People will understand how inhuman it is to kill a person in the name of caste.
Hyderabad: Amrutha Varshini, whose husband P. Pranay Kumar was murdered due to his caste, wants to install Pranay’s statute in Miryalaguda. However, some groups oppose this move stating that personal issues cannot be publicised by setting up a statute as it might send a wrong message to the next generation.
Pranay’s father, P. Balaswamy, wants to fight till his statute is installed in Miryalaguda. Speaking to this newspaper he said, “My only reason for insisting on installing Pranay’s statue was that we can send a message to the people to stop killing in the name of caste. People will understand how inhuman it is to kill a person in the name of caste. It can help in the annihilation of caste through inter caste marriages as said by B.R. Ambedkar.”
B. Laxmaiah, Kula Nirmulana Porata Samithi, Telangana State president said, “No one has the right to deny the installation of Pranay’s statute. Inter caste marriage is the right of every individual.”
