Mysuru: Golden throne assembled, royals gear up for Dasara
As part of the preparations, over 800 year old historic golden throne weighing 280 kg was removed from the strong room of the Palace board.
Mysuru: Even as the district administration gears up for the state festival Dasara, members of the erstwhile royal family of Mysuru are preparing for their private Dasara festivities.
As part of the preparations, over 800 year old historic golden throne weighing 280 kg was removed from the strong room of the Palace board, and assembled for the private darbar, which will be held by scion of the royal family Sri Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar. A series of poojas including Ganapathi homa, Chamundeswari pooja, Navagraha homa and Shanthi homa were performed by palace priests at Mysore Palace.
During the private darbar, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar attired in traditional royal robes, will ascend the 800 year old 280 kg golden throne at the darbar hall, and hold a private darbar on all nine days during Dasara. The golden throne will be dismantled again after the festivities and kept in the palace strong room.
