Help for Deloitte in Agri Gold case
The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the departments concerned of TS and AP governments, Income Tax and banks to extend all support to Deloitte to complete the takeover process of Agri Gold Group of Companies by Essel-Zee group’s Subhash Chandra Foundation.
A division bench comprising Justice V. Ramasubramanian and Justice S.V. Bhatt granted the interim orders while hearing a PIL by the depositors and agents seeking a CBI probe into the scam.
When counsel for Deloitte apprised the court of the problems the firm is facing to complete the take-over exercise, the bench said that the problems are just a tip of the iceberg and more will crop up.
The bench directed the AP government to place the seven directors and three officers of the company in Eluru jail from October 30 so that they are available for helping in the exercise.
The bench expressed displeasure at the list of properties submitted by the Agri Gold management for auction, stating that the management was keeping all valuable properties off the list.
While rejecting the list, the bench directed the CID to proceed with the sale of eight properties it had proposed during the previous hearing. The bench posted the case to Dec 4.
