Provide insurance sum to farmers, urges Vijayakanth
Farmers from Kulamangalam alleged that there were differences in the amount dispersed to farmers from closely-located or same villages.
Chennai: DMDK founder Vijayakanth donned a new look sporting a green shawl to express his support to the farmers on Tuesday.
He demanded the state government to immediately disburse the insurance sum under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the crop failure in
2016-17.
Alleging discrepancies in disbursal of insurance amount and non-payment in some cases the farmers and even the sugarcane growers have been insisting upon the government to address their concerns and take steps to pro-
vide the insurance amount.
Farmers from Kulamangalam alleged that there were differences in the amount dispersed to farmers from closely-located or same villages. Participating in an agitation at Villupuram near here on Tuesday, Mr. Vijayakanth claimed dengue outbreak and other issues seemed to oppress the government. He demanded the government to settle the amount due for the sugarcane growers too.
