Bengaluru: A 19-year-old second PUC student, who was riding a two-wheeler, died on the spot after a lorry carrying empty LPG cylinders crashed into his bike and dragged him and the bike to a distance in Avalahalli police limits on Wednesday morning.

A major tragedy was averted as the police put out the fire before the entire lorry caught fire. Officials said that the cylinders were empty.

The deceased has been identified as Basavaraj, a resident of Saraipalya and studying at a private PU college.

Around 9.30 am, Basavaraj was heading towards his hometown Konnagenabella in Devanahalli taluk, when the cylinder-laden lorry, which was speeding and coming from the opposite direction, crashed into his bike.
