Vishnu Kanchi police registered a case and arrested Madeen on Tuesday night.
Chennai: Vishnu Kanchi police on Wednesday arrested a man who assisted the prime accused to set up illegal cracker unit in the house where an explosion claimed four lives on Tuesday.
According to police, the incident took place in the house of Madeen, 47, on Nakalathu Street in Chinna Kanchi.
Madeen, who runs a biriyani shop in Chinna Kanchi town, is survived by wife Sahira Banu (45) and two sons Mustak (22) and Aasif (16).
During the festival seasons, Madeen and his family would make crackers and sell and them locally. On Tuesday afternoon when Sahira Banu and Mustak were engaged in making crackers fire spread rapidly and the crackers began to explode with a loud sound.
Sahira Banu, her son Mustak and their neighbour, Mastan (47) and his mother Sarfiuddin Banu (70) were also found dead after the explosion.
Vishnu Kanchi police registered a case and arrested Madeen on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday morning, the Vishnu Kanchi police arrested Magurun (35) of Chinna Kanchi town who assisted Madeen in setting up illegal cracker unit.
Kancheepuram deputy superintendent of police, Balasubramaniyan told DC, based on their inputs a special team of police was sent to Vellore to nab the person who supplied Madeen with explosive materials.
