AP to file defamation case against BJP leaders

For the past few days, the BJP has intensified protests demanding justice for the AgriGold victims.

Vijayawada: The AP government has decided to file a defamation case against BJP leaders for levelling false allegations in the AgriGold issue. Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, during a meeting with ministers at Amaravati on Wednesday discussed the BJP’s allegations in the AgriGold issue. Mr Naidu claimed that the state government was trying to do justice to the victims of AgriGold following the orders of the High Court but the BJP was defaming the government.

For the past few days, the BJP has intensified protests demanding justice for the AgriGold victims. BJP AP State president, Kanna Lakshminarayana, and BJP National secretary, V. Ram Madhav, launched a series of AgriGold protests on Monday at Vijayawada. BJP leaders have been holding protests in every district of AP and levelling allegations of grabbing AgriGold lands at a low price by TD leaders including minister for IT and panchayat raj, N. Lokesh and minister for civil supplies, P. Pulla Rao. BJP leaders have been continuously levelling allegations against the TD which irked them as they feared damage to party by the BJP campaign.

Mr Naidu on Tuesday directed the AP CID to disclose the developments in the investigation. The CID released a detailed report on the AgriGold case. On Wednesday, the ministers expressed their anguish over the negative campaign by the BJP and sought the help of Mr Naidu to plan an end to it. Mr Naidu decided the CID would file a defamation case on behalf of the government in the High Court.
